This summer 2024, pianist, organist, and harpist Emily Mason is working with the musicians from several churches in the area where she plays music for masses and services to present two concerts in July to raise money for a non-profit in our community, Peers and Students Taking Action (PASTA). Click HERE to learn more about this teen-run non-profit which trains teens to be good leaders, who in turn help to educate kids in need in our community.
In addition to raising money to train the teens in PASTA, and just as importantly, these concerts are an opportunity for people of different faiths, cultures, languages, and walks of life to gather and share music and food, our universal languages. One thing our world desperately needs right now is peaceful communication and active listening between people of different beliefs and backgrounds, and we can do that right here and now within our communities by celebrating where we can agree- we all love to party with food and music!
You are invited to attend and participate in one or both of these concerts by helping organize the receptions, obtaining sponsors from within the community, helping distribute flyers and programs, and helping set-up and clean-up after the concerts. I encourage participation in both concerts if possible, as both of them together constitute this event. Everyone involved in preparing and presenting these concerts will be volunteering their time and skill. You can find all information below about the concerts and where you can sign-up to help. Este verano de 2024, la pianista, organista y arpista Emily Mason está trabajando con los músicos de varias iglesias de la zona donde toca música para misas y servicios para presentar dos conciertos en julio para recaudar fondos para una organización sin fines de lucro en nuestra comunidad, Peers and Students Taking Action (PASTA). Una cosa que nuestro mundo necesita desesperadamente en este momento es la comunicación pacífica y la escucha activa entre personas de diferentes creencias y orígenes, y podemos hacerlo aquí y ahora dentro de nuestras comunidades celebrando donde podamos estar de acuerdo: ¡a todos nos encanta una fiesta con comida y música!
Está invitado a asistir y participar en uno o ambos de estos conciertos ayudando a organizar las recepciones, obteniendo patrocinadores dentro de la comunidad, ayudando a distribuir volantes y programas, y ayudando a preparar y limpiar después de los conciertos. Animo a participar en ambos conciertos si es posible, ya que ambos juntos constituyen este evento. Todos los involucrados en la preparación y presentación de estos conciertos ofrecerán voluntariamente su tiempo y habilidad.
